Owl clip holder

First let me tell you this is a LONG post- very winded and lots of pictures. I dont mind at all if you skip over my babble and look at the pictures. They are much more fun, and Im sure I am not the first person to come up with this idea, clip holders are every where, in all shapes and sizes. This is just my take on one. With that said.. I keep hearing from my Bestie that I need to hang my little girl's clips. That they are easier to find and you can see what you have. To give you some background, my Bestie is a "Gymboree Mom". And like any best friend, she turned me on to all things Gymboree. Let me tell you that can be a little problem when you have 2 adorable little girls, and 2 teenagers (adorable too) that eat holes in your pocketbook! -I like to dress the little ones in matching stuff, or at least from the same line... you either know what I'm talking about or are saying same line? What the heck?? Yes, I have a problem(- my big kids tell me so-) they are NOT twins and should not be made to look alike but they are only going to let me dress them for so long! OK- back to the Owls. Following Bestie's advice I decided I would try to make two- one for each girl- for all the matching bows and curly ribbons. Here is a peek at the room, it has an owl theme.........
( you can find it online at Target. I love it.)

So here is how I started. I got out my gypsy and purple cricut. Cut out an owl from Create A Critter as large as I could fit on my 12X12 mat. I used white paper, and  made the pattern. Then gave it to my husband with the following instructions. "Cut 2 please."
When he came home I had cut out some cute little owls in colors that would match the bedroom and was all ready to go. I tested them out to make sure they would fit the wood background he made them.....
And they fit!!! Oh my gosh! Did you see how cute they are!!!  Then I painted the edges with some cream craft paint.....

Uh oh... did you see the babies! Thoes are for another post! They are adorable. Here is the pink one all modge podged.... I had some issues with her, and am sorry to say she didnt make it. I guess I needed a refresher corse on how to podge, because she wrinkled all up and looked a mess.

After they dried, I cut orange ribbon in 2 foot lengths and hot glued it to the back of the owl. I burned the ribbon edges for fraying reasons, and hung her up!! Here she is!
I wont be back for a day or so- Going to work on my BLog hop projects and the little baby owls- Please come back this weekend for a great hop- I will be giving away some blog candy!!
